How the main temple was named the Golden Temple

This title was not actually given by us. It is so called the Golden Temple, since this title is often used in newspapers. The actual name of the temple is written both in English (Padmasambhava Buddhist Vihara) and Kannada above the main door of the temple. In 1999, as requested by His Holiness Penor Rinpoche, His Holiness Dalai Lama followed by the Corporation Minister S.R of Karnataka State, ADGP Darmapala Negi the representative of Karnataka Government, and other senior officials granted the inauguration of the temple in the midst of a large gathering. The news of the inauguration was not only shown on the modern television channels of Star Plus, Ajtak, Zee News and Sony News, but also was broadcasted and eventually printed in newspapers. Even in many different visitor guide books the name of the temple is given as "the Golden Temple". Almost all visitors when they reach this area ask for the Golden Temple rather than its real name, Padmasambhava Buddhist Vihara. Moreover, many visitors face the problem of losing their way. In order to resolve this problem, the temple was given its popular name "the Golden Temple of Namdroling Monastery" on the sign boards. Therefore the title "the Golden Temple" was not given by H.H. Penor Rinpoche, but was tagged and popularized to everyone through television, broadcasting services and newspapers.

The Golden Temple (Padmasambhava Buddhist Vihara)

His Holiness Penor Rinpoche began construction of the Golden Temple in 1995 and it was completed in 1999. The temple was constructed according to the tradition of Tibet, embellished with many exquisite paintings and sculptures. Within the Tibetan community in exile, it is considered as one of the most extraordinary temple. The magnificent landscape surrounding the temple was created not only as an offering to the Three Jewels, but also to inspire and bring peace to the minds of both visitors and residents alike. This is a place for everyone to practice his or her own faith without distraction. We hope that you will achieve peace here.
