The questions posed in the entrance examinations are basically on primary Buddhist teachings, history of Buddhism and Tibetan grammar. This is a Tibetan medium institution and knowledge of written and spoken Tibetan language is very important. If the applicant has completed eighth standard from the Monastic Jr. High School and accomplished Bum Nga, he can directly get admission in the institute merely by appearing for oral exam without giving written exams.
F) Having enrolled in the Institute, the student must render service and pay full respect to the President and lecturers.
Although the institute was established in 1978 with only 14 students, the number has gradually increased. The high standard of religious education in the institute has enabled to produce many gifted and skilled scholars with adequate capability to uphold the doctrine of Buddha. Through the threefold method of teaching, practice and carrying out the wheel of activities, the name of the institute altered to fame, far and wide, attracting hundreds of students from India, Tibet, Bhutan, Nepal, and other foreign countries.
